Samsung’s Family hub gets a fresh UI and new features this year at CES. This update brings in interface tweaks and deeper integration of Samsung’s own Bixby virtual assistant.
The new UI for Family Hub has been designed from scratch allowing apps to communicate with each other efficiently. The Family Hub is more or less a huge smart device running on Tizen OS which apart from accessing the inbuilt apps, can now control other smart devices like an oven or a washing machine directly. It can now book a cab via Uber as well for the users.
Users can now use their Samsung phones to create and leave notes for their family members on the Family board. Other important information like calendar and photos can now be seen on the Family Board.
Family Hub can now answer to your questions thanks to Bixby, which can now also do other tasks like reading morning brief including verbal report and screen-based readout of the weather and news, searching and reading recipes etc. The Family hub now includes "View Inside" feature that lets you check out the content placed inside the fridge remotely, with the help of cameras placed in the fridge.
Samsung has announced that new features will be available for earlier models of Family Hub via a software update.
