Oppo and OnePlus future phones could support Qi wireless charging

14 January 2019 4

Oppo has become a member of the Wireless Power Consortium, which is a group of companies that promote and develop the Qi Wireless Charging standard. This means that the smartphone manufacturer is planning to use Qi Wireless Charging standard in its upcoming phones.

Till now, Oppo phones have not supported wireless charging. Oppo and OnePlus have the same parent company and a number of OnePlus phones come with the same technology which is available on Oppo phones. So, we expect that OnePlus could also use wireless charging to their phones as well.

A number of smartphone brands are switching from aluminium/metal backs on the smartphone to glass back designs as a glass back is essential to support wireless charging. OnePlus which has become one of the most popular brands in the Indian smartphone market has started using the glass back design from the OnePlus 6. The company could soon be using wireless charging on its phones as well.

The OnePlus 7 is already in the works and could come with QI wireless charging support. It could be among the first OnePlus smartphones to feature the Qi Wireless Charging standard. The company has not confirmed as of now whether the upcoming phone will have the wireless charging tech or not as of now. We will just have to wait and see.

The incorporation of the Qi Wireless charging is likely to increase the popularity of both Oppo and OnePlus brands even more. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
