Mobile World Congress will happen in February this year and we are eagerly waiting for the same so as to cover some major announcements around the new smartphones and some new tech as well. There are so many companies which are participating in this biggest event and one such name is Microsoft which has just confirmed its participation via the invitation.
Microsoft has confirmed its press release for the MWC which will happen on February 24 to February 27. Brad Sams shares the invitation to let us know about the same. The reception will be hosted by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and CVP Julia White, and Alex Kipman too. Well, the presence of Kipman simply indicates that Microsoft has something to unveil from Mixed Reality segment and this could be the HoloLens 2 Wearable.
Also, according to the recently reported Microsoft’s roadmap, the next-gen HoloLens is expected to be launched in Q1 2019 and we can’t think of any better event that MWC that could unveil this next major project.
There have already been plenty of rumors and leaks on the same, one being the adoption of Qualcomm’s new XR1 and AI platform. Microsoft is also expected to double the HoloLens’ field of view. The reports on the next-gen HoloLens, in fact, started to arrive quite early. The company, itself, talked about it back in 2017 and suggested that the HoloLens 2 will offer more flexible and faster experience.
It isn’t common for Microsoft to attend MWC. The company has avoided the event in recent years after it canceled its Windows Phone platform.
Mixed Reality and Artificial Intelligence represent the future of computing and there are more advancements to be made in this area.
