WhatsApp v2.19.9 for Android adds group call shortcuts

17 January 2019 2

WhatsApp has been receiving quite a number of new updates. Android users will be happy to know that a new WhatsApp update for its platform has just rolled out. This update brings with it a dedicated call button in group chats. This feature came to WhatsApp for iOS not too long ago. Finally, Android users can enjoy this feature as the call button in group chats simplifies the group calling feature which rolled out to WhatsApp on both mobile platforms a little while back.

The latest version of WhatsApp v2.19.9 was first discovered by WABetaInfo. So, how is this new feature helpful? Well, when the group call feature first dropped for Android users, users had to first start a voice or video call with a contact. Once the call has been made, users could then add participants to the group. In simple terms, it was a cumbersome process. The latest update brings a new group call button to the application. The option is placed at the top right-hand corner in the group chats. This button reveals a slide-out tray which has all the contact cards of all group members.

In order to get this new feature in WhatsApp on Android, users must be running on the latest version of the app. Alongside this feature, the GIF bug which broke its functionality has also been fixed.
