Ever since its inception and addition to the WhatsApp app, WhatsApp stickers has been extremely popular. The new feature was added to the app in October 2018 and garnered a lot of attention. Rumour has it that keyboard integration of WhatsApp stickers may be available through Gboard. In simple terms, this means that Gboard will now support WhatsApp stickers without the need for third-party sticker apps. According to WABetaInfo, this sticker integration in GBoard has been available since December 12th. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been made available to the public just yet!
Gboard is going to be the first keyboard to support integration for WhatsApp stickers. The main aim of this is to ensure that a large number of stickers are available for WhatsApp. In a huge way, it reduces the reliance on third-party apps to add new WhatsApp stickers. In fact, due to difficulties involving multiple apps for WhatsApp stickers, the company even disabled the App Store shortcuts for WhatsApp stickers on iOS. Once Google has completed testing its Gboard with this new integrated feature, the feature will be made available to the public.
Perhaps the adoption of integrating WhatsApp stickers into a keyboard by Google will encourage other keyboard app developers to do the same. This new integration will allow for the chat app to directly convert stickers present on Gboard into WhatsApp compatible WebP format.
