LG G8 ThinQ could include touch-less navigation, hints teaser

23 January 2019 4

LG has something to show up at the upcoming biggest mobile event called the Mobile World Congress 2019 that happens every year in Barcelona. Going by the rumors, it could be the LG G8 coming with a lot of new things. Recently, the renders shared by OnLeaks have also revealed the design of the device but the key details and some features are still not talked about. Well, at least, we are going to know about one good feature and this seems to be the gesture function that won’t require the touch.

This can be seen from a teaser video titled “MWC 2019 | LG Premier” which LG shows the wave of a hand vanishing the text written over the piece of paper without touching the display. This signifies to the working of a device in a few situations where the user does not need to touch the display.

Going by the video, the touchless gestures may switch the regular swipes on the phone. The video shows a wave to the left to right, then in the opposite direction and then a slight push up reveals the date when LG will hold its event in Barcelona. This means we can expect the basic navigation without the need of the touch. The revealed launch date is February 24 where the LG G8 ThinQ will get unveiled.

Going by the previous leaks, the LG G8 is expected to have Sound On Display, 3D face scanning feature but no 5G. It is also expected to bring an attachable accessory that will add another screen, thus we may see a phone with two screens. The phone could measure roughly 152x72x8.4mm and offer USB Type-C port, loudspeaker grille, and a 3.5mm audio socket at the bottom.

This touchless navigation is a feature still not used in any other phone. For a company like LG that needs something special, this can just be that.
