Apple's new AirPods are expected to hold the hands-free speech recognition experience so that it could be used without a tap. Currently, you need to do a double tap to allow AirPods to access the Siri or interact with it. But, going by the latest tidbit which is pretty much giving good support to all those rumors before, the hands-free or simply put the "Hey Siri" support is coming to the earphones where you don't need to touch them for the Siri support.
A keen-eyed person has spotted a new setup screen in the upcoming OS. This enables the users to set up the Siri so that it could recognize your voice on your AirPods as well. Previously, this setup only used to show the settings for iPhone.
There have already been rumors around the internet stating that AirPods will incorporate features like hands-free use so that you won't have to tap the earpiece. An introductory video back in September at the time of Apple's Keynote also showed a woman using hands-free AirPods. She asks without tapping on the AirPods, "He Siri, what's the fastest way to Steve Jobs Theatre?" Siri then starts giving instructions.
