Honor officially announced last year that it would be rolling out its first smart TV in the Indian market and it seems the time has finally arrived. Sources share that Huawei and its sub-brand Honor would be expanding into smart TV business this year with Honor to begin in April while Huawei to follow in the second half of 2019. Huawei is known for relatively affordable smartphones that compete quite strongly in the smartphone industry and it seems the same would be the case with the Huawei’s upcoming smart TVs which the company is expected to begin with 65-inches and above.
With a team of 200 to 300 people strong, the smart TV lineup from the Chinese popular smartphone manufacturer would be quite affordable considering the competition. The core idea of Huawei to dive into this market is to create a demand for the 5G network. This would be possible by creating 4k and 8k enabled smart TVs that would create a demand for 4k/8k quality content and thus creating demand for 5G.
Considering Huawei is also in the network business, this would be a win-win for the leading Chinese smartphone brand. This is quite a smart strategy by Huawei which is to create an ecosystem of products which connect its services. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment section below.
