Next-gen Xbox consoles are coming and there so many speculations going on around them. Microsoft is expected to bring some of its new projects which are codenamed Scarlett, Lockhart, and Anaconda. But, today we have something interesting about Xbox Scarlett only.
Currently, the details on the Xbox Scarlett are pretty scarce but the newly leaked Dev kit fills this gap quite well and tell us something that we haven’t had before. The leaked specs show that the Scarlett is going to have a next-gen GPU which is going to be more powerful than Navi. The leaked doc also mentions the codename of this GPU which is Arcturus. Going by the reported AMD GPUs’ roadmap, Arcturus will come after Navi in 2020 and needless to say, it will be more powerful than its previous gen GPU. So, we are seeing an early insight on the Project Scarlett which will only arrive in the next year.
AMD Navi was supposed to be shown at CES 2019 but due to some rumored error with the sample, it couldn’t happen.
Coming back to the leaked specifications which reflect what this rumored GPU holds within for the next-gen Xbox. As you would see, the name of the GPU is Arcturus and the max core clock speed is 1400Mhz and max memory clock speed is 1650Mhz. Well, the memory clock speed does look a bit slow but we don’t know what kind of memory Microsoft is going to use. Coming to the memory size, it’s 22GB which is quite massive and we are unlikely to have this much of space when the product gets released. It may have just 12GB or max 16GB. It seems that the 22GB is just given to the developers as an extra headroom for the development of their games.
Looking at the specs of the processor, it also seems to be powerful – octa-core running at 3.3GHz with a full gig of cache.
This is quite an early insight of the next-gen Xbox console which will not come before 2020. So, take it with a pinch of salt for now.
