The Samsung Galaxy J2 Core launched last year in August and is still awaiting the Android 9.0 Pie software update. Along with this, the Samsung Galaxy J4 is also suffering a similar fate. However, this could all change for both devices as both smartphones have just been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance running on Android Pie. While this seems like a ray of hope, it might be a while till the devices actually receive the update. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 received the same certification in November 2018 and are still awaiting an official Android Pie update.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 Core is a Samsung Go smartphone and will probably come with the One UI instead of stock Android. Unfortunately, this translates to a longer waiting period for the crucial software update. Well, on the flip side, it isn’t too bad considering the fact that till now only one Android One smartphone has received the Android Pie update. Samsung does have some catching up to do but it’s not entirely out of the race!
Apart from these two smartphones, the company has been thinking of bringing Android Pie to a few of its budget smartphones as well. One such phone happens to be the Samsung Galaxy J6+. However, since there is no exact time frame for its release, it must be taken with a pinch of salt!
