Microsoft announces end of support for its Health Dashboard apps and services

04 March 2019 2

Microsoft is discontinuing its Band and Health Dashboard apps and services on May 31st. The Microsoft Band was already discontinued long time back but the associated services for the users were still active but starting May 31st, these services will also get axed. The reports making rounds don’t mention the reason behind this new plan.

Starting May 31st, the backend services are ending and also the apps from Microsoft Store, Google Play, and Apple’s App Store will come to an end. Microsoft is giving enough time to the existing users to export their data before the end of May as services powered by the cloud will cease to function in June.

Interestingly, some Band users are eligible to receive a refund from Microsoft if they have synced data from a Band to the Health Dashboard between December 1st, 2018 and March 1st, 2019. Surprisingly, Microsoft is offering $79.99 for Band 1 owners, and $175 for Band 2 devices. Also, if your Microsoft Band is also covered under warranty, the same refund values will be available.

The Microsoft Band will continue to work as before sans the loud functionality. But if in any case, you reset your band for any reason then you won’t be able to set it up again.
