Oppo introduced its latest 10x lossless zoom camera tech at the MWC 21019 event in February with a promise that a smartphone utilizing this new tech will come in Q2 2019. This means the company is mass producing this tech already. And, according to a new post made on Weibo, the company is already stocking up the smartphone utilizing this tech to around 2 million so as to make it ready to be used.
Oppo VP has shared this but the post doesn't clearly mention the name of the tech. This looks more like a hint according to which the smartphone bearing this feature will be unveiled in April. The name of this model is unknown but this tech is expected to impact the growth of Oppo majorly.
At the MWC 2019 event, the Chinese company has elaborated the tech behind this new camera scheme. The 10x optical zoom camera tech uses a periscope-style lens system. And, this is done with the help of merely two camera sensors, one is the 48MP and a wide-angle camera, both with OIS. The third lens comes as a prism in a D-cut shape; not round like the others. Light travels through the prism where it meets about five lenses before hitting the image sensor. The company also demonstrated how a slider in the camera interface changes the zoom level as it slides up.
We will continue to hear more about this tech and the details of the smartphone featuring this tech may also come into highlight via leaks and speculations. So stay tuned.
