Samsung seems to have a new Android tablet in works which could be called as Galaxy Tab S5. The codename spotted in Galaxy Fold’s firmware suggested that Samsung also has a tablet to launch with the Snapdragon 855 processor. The tentative launch date of the tablet is not known but this is a possible hint at its existence at least.
There’s no direct reference to the name of the tablet but the codename discovered in the firmware dump points out the name. The codename for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is GTS2, the codename for the Galaxy Tab S3 is GTS3L, and for the Galaxy Tab S4, it’s GTS4L. Thus, it makes sense to assume that the codename “GTS5L” is for the Galaxy Tab S5.
The source of XDA Developers pulled the defconfig, a Linux kernel configuration file, from their Samsung Galaxy Fold. The file lists code-names for many different Samsung-made Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 devices. It’s good to note that Samsung is relying on the latest processor and not repeating its action what it did for the Galaxy Tab S4 by launching it with 2017’s flagship processor – Snapdragon 835. The Galaxy Tab S4 came out as one of the best Android tablets in the market but it was criticized for a relatively old processor. But now tablet lovers may rejoice as a new tablet with a new processor seems to be underway.
