11 April 2019 4

With the upcoming trend in the mind, Sharp has demonstrated its new foldable AMOLED display panel. The prototype showcased by Sharp is a 6.18” panel with WQHD+ resolution (1440*3040 pixels). The company is said to have started making foldable AMOLED panels since June last year.

The demo shows a candy bar styled device which folds into half from the center. While this panel is shown to fold inwards repeatedly in the video, the company claims that it can also bend outwards and claims that it can withstand 3000,000 folds. The said panel is purely ‘Made in Japan’ and may soon debut in a Sharp Aquos gaming smartphone, however, the final decision hasn’t been made yet, says the report.
