BlackBerry Messenger is shutting down on 31st May 2019 as the company announced in a blog post on their website. BBM was one of the most used instant messaging applications of its time. Apart from this, it was used as a cross-platform service that wasn’t only used as a chatting platform but also for sharing life experiences and as a medium for payment services.
Now in the latest development, BlackBerry has shared how with the growth of the smartphones and various options available for instant messaging, BBM users have migrated to other apps beside their efforts to maintain the userbase. Thus considering this, the company fees sadly to see the sunset happening upon BBM consumer service and they believe it’s time to move on.
The company shares in a blog post mentioning,

We hope you will cherish many fond memories of BBM consumer service that helped shape messenger platforms to become what they are today.

Definitely, it's not a good feeling to see the end of a service which was so popular one day. But yes, the show must go on, right?
