Apple started its WWDC 2019 event by announcing what’s the latest version of the tvOS is bringing. The company previewed the new features of tvOS 13 and its capabilities at the event in San Jose and also announced when the public beta would arrive for the testers.
Apple TV OS has received a new Home screen with full-screen content previews. One of the biggest capabilities added is the multi-user support for the customers to access their own TV shows, movies, music, and recommendations. The family members can switch between personalized entertainment experiences. The new tvOS also brings support for Apple Arcade; expanded game controllers support, and new 4K HDR screen savers filmed under the sea. A family of six can have unlimited access to over 100 new and exclusive games.
Also, the new Control Center lets the users quickly access the song that is currently playing. Users can also follow the on-screen lyrics.
What’s more interesting is, tvOS 13 also adds support for the Xbox and PlayStation game controllers. So, users will be able to take advantage of Apple Arcade and other great games on the App Store. Note that, previously, the controller support for both iOS and Apple TV was given to select MFi Bluetooth controllers.
Apple CEO Tim Cook showed new stunning 4K wallpapers at the event. This time Apple went underwater to bring some interesting wallpapers for you. Underwater views have been filmed in collaboration with the BBC Natural History Unit, the team behind “Blue Planet.” Apple says the new immersive videos have been captured from the depths of oceans and they showcase some mesmerizing creatures and scenes.
The tvOS developer preview is available for Apple Developer Program members at developer.apple.com starting today, and a public beta program will be available to tvOS users next month at beta.apple.com. It will be available this fall as a free software update for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.
