Last month saw the launch of the Redmi K20 Pro in China. The device is pitted against the OnePlus 7 Pro and the company sold 200,000 units during its very first sale. The device has become apart of the Android Q Beta program and is expected to arrive in India in little over a month or so. The good news keeps flowing for the Redmi K20 Pro as the device has received its first ever OTA update.
The update is sized at 329MB and brings with it Face Unlock, a feature which was missing from the flagship smartphone from Redmi. However, the company does issue a warning regarding the reliability of its newly added Face Unlock feature. Supposedly, the feature isn’t as secure as unlocking a device via PIN or Password. Since the feature is purely on the software side, it makes use only of the front camera to unlock the device. This means that even a photograph of you could possibly trick the system into unlocking the smartphone.
Other additions to the OTA update include three customizable lock screen clock styles and Wi-Fi list sorting by signal strength. Since the Redmi K20 Pro has only been released in China, the update is only for Chinese users. Indian users will probably receive the update out of the box when purchasing the Redmi K20 Pro smartphone.
