The time has come for Xiaomi to finally flourish its partnership with Meitu that it announced last year. In fact, the Chinese company is paying its utmost attention to the new series that will come out of this collaboration. Xiaomi has decided to not refresh its Mi Max and Mi Note series this year and rather focus on the affordable Redmi lineup and the upcoming series coming from this partnership.
CC series is an outcome of this partnership, using which the company would target young buyers. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun introduced the new CC series and explained the meaning of this branding. The name CC means Colorful & Creative, and it’s developed by the Chic & Cool 90 team. Xiaomi did announce the new series but didn’t bring any actual phones to the table. While the company didn’t utter a word on the new phones, a few leaks have to say that the first two phones in the series are going to be the CC9 and CC9e. The name behind these new phones is said to have been put to reflect the age of the company which is 9 years.
According to Xiaomi, unlike the previous Mi production team of smartphones, the CC product team has knowledge in the field of visual arts. Jun has reportedly said, “this time, I want to truly revise the trend of mobile phones with the ideas of young people.” So, we might see some aesthetic changes as well as some attractive features but likely with less impressive specifications.
In other related news, a new leak has surfaced which is supposedly the new CC9 phone. The leaked image shows a phone with an all-screen design but without a notch and a punch-hole. There are not even thick bezels around the display and the screen-to-body ratio looks definitely higher than 90%. The leak only shows the front of the device but referring to another leak we saw earlier, the device could feature Asus Zenfone 6-style flip-up camera module. But the Xiaomi CC9 is going to have three cameras instead of the two cameras that we see in Zenfone 6. Currently, there’s no information on the camera specs or other key details of the device but we look forward to it.
Also, Xiaomi has confirmed via Weibo that it will be holding a launch event on July 2 to unleash the first Mi CC series phone.
