Amazon has released Alexa app for Android TV that will help the users to control several aspects while they play music or watch videos. Currently, the app is limited to Sony Android TVs but we can expect it to reach other Android TVs as well.
Once installed, the app will allow you to use an Alexa-enabled speaker to view your cameras or play music through your TV. Just ask “Alexa, play music on the [TV name]” and Alexa will do it for you. The app will also be able to change the channel, switch inputs, control media playback, and adjust the volume as well.
You can listen to music from Amazon Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and much more by just asking Alexa.
The app is currently available in the US, UK, Germany, Spain, France, Austria, and the Republic of Ireland.
The arrival of Alexa app on the Android TV could be the result of an agreement the two companies Amazon and Google came to in April. In the past, the two companies didn’t have a good relationship but slowly their partnership is bringing more things to the table and they're releasing more such collaborations. More devices are now gaining access to Prime Video app and YouTube is slated to come back to Amazon Fire TV soon.
