Apple is said to be working on a new iPhone so as to exclusively launch it for the Chinese market. This sketchier report is coming from the Chinese media outlet, The Global Times that claims a new iPhone specifically tailored for the Chinese consumers is on the way. The move is unknown but it’s believed that Apple is aiming to capture the declining sales in the domestic market which have been worsened due to the trade war between the US and China.
It’s also believed that Apple will remove some fancy features so as to make it ready for the country at a lower cost than the price at what it usually sells. The report from the Chinese outlet cites another tech site which refers to the familiar sources working on the matter and shares that the new iPhone will not feature Face ID and would rather rely on the traditional fingerprint scanner. Apple’s advanced Face ID uses some high-end components so removing this feature totally would cut the overall cost of the iPhone.
The report mentions that Apple has lost many users due to the increase in demand for phones from local brands like Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo.
The report also refers to postulations of Liu Dingding, a Beijing-based industry analyst and mentions,
Apple is likely to "seize back some of the market share it lost after adjusting prices in China - to move further into smartphones ranging between 3,000 and 4,000 yuan, while maintaining its premium products."
Well, if it report is indeed true, this looks uncertain that Apple would launch such a product for the Chinese market only. The budget-conscious market is everywhere and those who can’t afford Apple’s highly-priced iPhones would also like to have such new models even if the company decides to remove some of the rich features.
We do hope to hear more about this possibility in the coming days or months. Stay tuned and tell us what do you think about such a special device and do you want anything like this in your country as well?
