Huawei’s sub-brand Honor may soon release its TV and the company itself is talking about it. At an event in China, Honor President George Zhao officially announced that Honor will launch a brand new smart TV in the future. He didn’t put up any particular details but addressed them to be the “Smart Screen TVs.” The idea isn’t different to what other existing TVs offer but Honor wants to revolutionize and we believe the company may bring something different to the table so as to take a position in this established market.
Zhao said he wants the television to be less a media center and more of a complete information center. We can’t tell what this idea means but our understanding is, Honor wants the TV to be a central hub for other smart home devices so that they could connect with it seamlessly. There have been some speculations on the Honor TV but there haven’t been too many frequent leaks.
Reportedly, in a recent interview, he further elaborated his thoughts on the television industry and Honor’s upcoming product. He said the TV industry is in dire need of R&D as it still lacks innovation. He compared this industry with that of the smartphones’, which has taken strides. He believes the TV industry has much scope to further develop and gain more features to become more productive than before.
Zhao said the company wouldn’t bother for the prices and would rather focus heavily on the R&D so as to bring more to “the future of TV.” This indicates that the company may come with a different tech altogether to improve the current state of the TV industry. Note here that the company had previously provided TV chips and software processing for the TV industry and the connections with different companies have helped the company as well. So, it makes sense for Honor to come with better options.
We need to gain more insights on Honor’s idea of bringing more meaningful TV industry. So stay tuned.
