Samsung’s One UI, a software overlay that the company developed for its Android devices will also get an update when the Android takes a new major form of it. SamMobile has obtained information from its sources that the Android Q release for Galaxy smartphones will bring the version 2.0 of the company’s One UI. Well, it’s not hard to predict in fact, pretty evident. The source, however, also claims that the Galaxy S11 will debut with One 2.1, which may be a new thing to note. But again, going a little back will make us realize that the One UI 1.0 debuted with Android Pie and was followed by One UI 1.1 on the Galaxy S10 lineup.
Apart from their debut, it’s unknown what new things or features these upgrades will bring to the Galaxy devices. One thing which is speculated is the Digital Wellbeing improvements that Google announced at its developer conference in May this year. These improvements could include Focus Mode, allowing users to specify which apps they find most distracting and silence those apps when the feature is enabled.
Well, while Samsung will make use of Google’s Android Q features, it will, of course, also bake in its own unique features to its series of phones and tablets via its custom skin.
It’s unknown when Samsung would push the Android Q update to its devices but going by the time it took to release the Android Pie, the latest update shouldn’t take much time to reach. Let’s wait to grab more insights about the same.
