One of the greatest utilizations of the evolving tech and faster connectivity is the gaming sector. There are, of course, other applications as well, but mobile gaming is gaining traction quite fast. These are the new SoCs that have been making possible to give rise to several powerful smartphones and in the league of this, we have a new SoC to name here which is from MediaTek.
A teaser has appeared that shows the Helio G90 is going to be its first dedicated chipset for gaming. The teaser doesn’t reveal anything else but acknowledging that the company is stepping into this big sector is itself a big reveal. But in case you want to know more about this chipset, speculations are circulating and out of them, one claims that the G90 is based on the Helio P90, which has a CPU with two Cortex-A75 cores (2.2GHz) and six A55 cores (2.0GHz). For GPU, the Helio P90 came with the Imagination PowerVR GM9446 (970MHz), which promises a 15% improvement over the Mali-G72 MP3 used in the Helio P70. As we mentioned earlier, we can’t say if the Helio G90 is also using the same GPU.
There are some powerful processors already available in the market and several companies make use of them to churn out their maximum potential and bring a device which could let you play high-end games. But a dedicated chipset for gaming levels up to the game from here and we are looking forward to seeing what new features and capabilities such purposefully-designed chipsets will unlock and how are they going to differ from the existing processors.
One thing is clear, in the league of smart home devices, 5G, foldable things, the “basic” smartphones industry is amping up and looking for more ways to make the smartphones more powerful and ultimately beasts.
Needless to say, this is just a poster and we are yet to gain more insights on the same.
