GPU Turbo 3.0 that was announced back in April with support for 20+ Android games is now getting rolled out to some more Huawei devices. The new and improved GPU Turbo was launched as a part of EMUI 9.1 alongside the P30 flagship series. But now it’s stepping out of the flagship phones territory and entering the budget phones of Huawei to boost their performance and optimize the gaming experience as well.
Huawei has confirmed that the GPU Turbo 3.0 will be rolled out to P30 Lite, P20 Lite, Nova 3i, and Y9 among others. The new feature rolls out as part of the company's latest EMUI 9.1 update. Huawei's sub-brand also brings the Magic UI 2.1 to the 8X, Honor 10, Play, View10, and Honor 10 Lite. Apart from the GPU Turbo 3.0, these updates to Huawei and Honor devices also bring EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System) file system feature. It aims at improving the read performance by up to 20 percent, and app start-up speed by 10 percent. Huawei has also reportedly said that the new file system offers improved security of system files.
There are a few other small improvements as well, including the AI Vlog Editing feature that allows you to combine several photo moments into a cinematic video. Furthermore, Magic UI 2.1 also features new icons that have better readability and new wallpapers.
GPU Turbo that made its debut last year has now been upgraded to accommodate some new features for the smartphones. According to Huawei, the GPU Turbo enhances the graphics performance and with its v3, you can expect even better commitment. The tech also reduces the power consumption to a significant level so that your device doesn’t heat up in peak hours. At the time of the announcement, Huawei claimed the tech would let you run some heavy game titles without going hard on the battery of the smartphones. Besides the faster touch response and lower energy consumption, the GPU Turbo also aims at reducing the frame drops thus making an overall smooth experience.
Later, Huawei brought this tech to its more and more smartphones and fast forward to now, there are so many new phones that are joining this bandwagon.
