TCL's alleged roadmap reveals foldable device FLEXTAB to launch in 2020

20 August 2019 0

TCL, a very-less talked about company reportedly has some new smartphones to launch this year and next. It’s very easy to forget the company when other Chinese companies like Oppo, Xiaomi, and Huawei are dominating. But not to forget, TCL is the same company that partnered with several ODMs like Alcatel Mobile and BlackBerry to offer you something different at different price points.

Well, moving on, the company doesn’t have a new contractor to announce, nor does it have any smartphone to make official as of now but there is a leak on its upcoming smartphones. Courtesy of @evleaks, we now know TCL has some new smartphones to launch, including a foldable one as well.

The leakster has shared the roadmap of TCL that shows which smartphone is launching when. To start with, there’s one smartphone called the T1 to launch in Q3, the remaining four smartphones will launch in 2020. The names of the smartphones are also mentioned. After the launch of TCL T1 in Q3 2019, TCL will launch its Pro version with Edge AMOLED display and quad camera somewhere in Q1 2020.

Also, somewhere between Q2 and Q3, TCL will bring the 5G versions of both the devices T1 and T1 Pro. And the foldable phone FLEXTAB will launch in Q3 2020. Note that this is the roadmap of TCL and it could change if the company wants to make any changes in its announcement. Also, all the upcoming smartphones are the variants of T1 which according to the leakster will launch this year.

The specifications of the TCL T1 have also been leaked, according to which, you’ll see a 6.53-inch FHD Plus Dotch Display on it with 90% screen-to-body ratio. It will be powered by Snapdragon 675 octa-core processor coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It’s going to have a triple rear cameras setup with 48MP primary sensor, 16MP, and 2MP secondary cameras. On the front, it has a 24MP camera and it runs TCL UI based on Android 9.0 Pie. It will come with 3820mAH battery and Type-C port as well.

The specifications of other phones which are slated to launch next year are unknown. But, it’s great to note that the company plans to launch a foldable phone as well. By the name, it sounds like a folding tablet which features a flexible AMOLED screen. Earlier this year, during MWC, TCL showed off some of the concepts of foldable screens and devices it’s working on. It seems the FLEXTAB is one of them.

Well, this is too early to comment on upcoming smartphones of TCL but, at least, we now know that the company has plans for the coming year.
