TCL’s leaked roadmap has already revealed which products are launching in the coming year. The roadmap showed that the company has a foldable tablet by the name FLEXTAB to launch somewhere in Q3 2020 and now its existence appears to have been corroborated by a patent.
Mobielkopen discovered a patent published in China just last week. The patent application shows the intent of TCL like how it wants the foldable device to look like.
The application shows the foldable device in question would fold inward to become a phone just like the Samsung Galaxy Fold. It’s also found that the gap produces by the “DragonHinge” is larger. The images which are shown in the patent application also reveals that there is a triple camera setup on the back and a tiny front camera stays on the front, with very thin bezels surrounding the foldable display.
The renders reveal the complete design of the foldable tablet in question. It matches the design of what the Galaxy Fold possesses. The tablet folds like a book and when opens, offers a large display area.
There aren’t any key details surfaced yet, but we may gain them slowly. We are still almost a year away from the said launch of TCL’s first foldable tablet, so there’s an ample amount of time to interrogate and look for more details on the device.
It's great to note that for years, TCL has been producing smartphones under the brand names of Alcatel and BlackBerry, but now it is planned to release products under its own name
In related news, TCL has many new phones to launch and to start with, it has T1 to launch this year. All other phones, other than the FLEXTAB are the variants of this phone only. These include T1 Pro, T1 5G, and T1 Pro 5G.
