Sony Xperia 2 may feature a slightly more compact profile and the information is reportedly divulged from a well-informed source of the German tech site WinFuture. It’s speculated that the Xperia 2 device will come up with a 6.1-inch display, slightly smaller in size than its predecessor, Xperia 1. The tech site has also shared some renders of the device from every angle. These renders look similar to the ones we saw back in May, courtesy of another tipster @OnLeaks.
Also, expect an Xperia 1 Compact smartphone to come as well which may offer similar specs sheet as its larger sibling. The 6.1-inch 21:9 display of the Xperia 2 is expected to have an FHD+ resolution in cinema format, assuming the PF62 is 2520x1080 pixels.
Meanwhile, Sony has also shared a teaser video on its account on Instagram. The teaser confirms that there’s indeed a new smartphone with a compact form factor to launch at IFA. The teaser doesn’t reveal the name of the phone but the punch line “Xperia in the palm of your hand” does reflect the possibility of having a smaller display phone, which isn’t smaller, though.
Going by the leaked dimensions, the Xperia 2 should measure 58 x 68.3 x 8.3mm, which is (unsurprisingly) considerably taller but slightly narrower. The narrow profile may help it to fit in your hands, though.
According to the teaser, the device is getting unveiled at the IFA event in Berlin on September 5.
Going back to the report that talks about specifics of the Xperia 2, the device could come with Snapdragon 855 processor and 6GB RAM with 128GB onboard storage. It may come with triple rear cameras and 12MP is going to be the primary one. Sony recently trademarked S-Cinetone, a video-centric feature. The details on the same are pretty scarce but it's believed Xperia 2 will adorn it.
We don’t have many days to wait for the launch of this mysterious device. So let’s just curb your curiosity for two more days.
