Update: November 20, 2019

Huawei has confirmed in a new teaser that its Sound X smart speaker is co-engineered with Devialet. The teaser doesn’t accompany any further details like how this partnership is helping Huawei, but the name of the partner is enough to estimate the quality the users are about to receive.

Devialet is a French company that specializes in acoustic engineering. It not only designs and markets a range of high-end audio amplifiers. So, the label “co-engineered with Devialet” is enough to understand the seriousness of Huawei to bring out the best experience for its users. The specifics of the partnership between Devialet and Huawei are unknown but we expect to hear some excellent sound quality from the Sound X, considering the expertise of Devialet in the world of audio.

Founded in 2007, Devialet is one of the most critically acclaimed start-ups in the world of audio inventions. Its patented technology ADH (Analog Digital Hybrid) seamlessly blends digital and analog to produce sound quality. Devialet claims its ADH technology delivers the best analog sound in the world. Its one more tech called the SAM (Speaker Active Matching) processing was introduced in 2014 to deduce the exact signal to be transmitted to any type of speaker. It is possible Sound X from Huawei is using the SAM processing of Devialet so that it could reproduce the recorded pressure precisely.

Huawei has a new Mate family member to introduce on November 25 and going by the speculations this member could be the new MatePad Pro tablet. However, this product is reportedly not coming alone and will be accompanied by a long-speculated speaker as well.

According to the latest leak surfaced on Weibo, this smart speaker will be addressed by the name Sound X. The leak shows a couple of product images and specifications of the smart speaker inside a user manual.

The Huawei Sound X which has just come to notice will feature 60W double subwoofer, 360-degree surround sound, Virtual 5.1 home theater sound effects, one-touch sound control, and HiLink smart home control. It will be equipped with a quad-core processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage. Going by the product description, the Sound X will come with an inbuilt microphone, physical key for mute, multi-function and volume control.

The Sound X connects via Bluetooth 5.0 to your phone and supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks.

The Huawei Sound X will measure 165mm in width, 203mm in height and weighs at 3.5Kg. Going by the images available in the product description, the Sound X is a cylindrical design. The speaker shows a two-tone dual texture design, where the upper part has a gray finish and includes a large button and a bottom section that is black.

Apart from doing the usual stuff that a smart speaker does like letting you play music, and listen to the news, weather forecast and other voice-assistant services, the speaker will be able to control smart home products as well, thanks to Huawei’s HiLink app.

There is no word on pricing but the suspected launch date is not too far from us where we get to know everything about it.
