Huawei Kirin 1020 codenamed "Baltimore," reportedly in works to offer 50% better performance

13 December 2019 0

It is easy to perceive that Huawei must be having a more efficient SoC in works but standing here, we can’t also estimate the specifications and capabilities of this SoC. Rumors believe it to be the Kirin 1000 series that may get launched in the second half of 2020. But a new report tries to put a more specific detail that could be taken as a good lead for further inspection.

According to MyDrivers, Huawei has Kirin 1020 in works and it is based on 5nm tech, something perceptible enough. So, expect it to be more efficient and offer more stable performance. The report, however, also claims that the codename of the Kirin 1020 is “Baltimore.” The previous speculation claimed it to be the Cortex-A77 cores but the latest report mentions it to be the Cortex- A78 and this is one of the biggest changes coming.

Note that the Kirin 990 has Cortex-A76 cores but the yet-to-come Kirin 1020 is rumored to have even better cores for a performance boost. The report claims the Kirin 1020 will offer 50% performance improvements over its predecessor. It is interesting to note that recently launched MediaTek 1000 Dimensity came with Cortex-A77 and Huawei is aiming for an even better one.

Well, if the given rumor turns out true, we would see a beast coming out in 2020, giving a tough competition to others in the league. Previously, it was rumored that the Mate 40 will debut with the upcoming flagship processor, but we are yet to get more insights on the same, so, better take it with a pinch of salt and wait for more tidbits to join in.
