The upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro is grabbing all the limelight for all the new and yes good reasons. First, it was the new punch-hole design followed by the 120Hz support and now it is the wireless charging support.
The tipster Max J, who usually offers tips on Samsung’s upcoming devices has shared an interesting tidbit on the OnePlus 8 Pro and it is about the most-wanted wireless charging. For the illustration purpose, he has also shared a concept image with a caption, “charge like a pro.” Clearly, the image shared by him is no direct image of the OnePlus 8 Pro, but a mockup of it for the reference only.

We might not have put our reliance on the tip, had he not retweeted the article shared by Phonearana on the same subject. The tech publication clearly talks about the possibility where OnePlus could introduce the wireless charging support finally.
It appears that OnePlus is finally implementing the feature which is much-loved and asked about. OnePlus is a maker of some great smartphones, but the lack of a couple of advanced features has somewhat given the company a back seat compared to others. But that has always been the strategy of OnePlus to not make available the features which aren’t really required, though the waterproof capability is something that is relative and subjective.
OnePlus has been explaining that water resistance ratings add extra manufacturing costs and for the wireless charging support, the company has expressed its skepticism and highlighted that it takes a long time to charge a device with a wireless pad. It’s undeniable that its Warp Charge technology is so powerful as it charges its phone in minutes. So, enabling wireless charging support at this time, may not be a need at all. But is it finally coming? Well, we have to wait for more insights for the same.
Another point here to note is, OnePlus is now listed on the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) member list, this clearly indicates that OnePlus is finally bringing this support, since joining the consortium is a requirement for creating devices that use Qi wireless charging. However, earlier in last year, Oppo was found to be listed on the same database, indicating that future Oppo and OnePlus phones could finally feature this since the two companies operate under the parent company. But now the direct listing of the name of OnePlus highly indicates the possibility.
It should be noted that OnePlus is one in a few brands that has managed to leverage the potential of faster solutions. And, there is no harm in believing that the company may also bring something similar experience in the wireless charging world.
The concept image clearly shows a charging pad as well. But, no, we won’t make any assumptions for now and rather wait for more information that could help to enlighten us.
