Coronavirus is spreading even further and the numbers of affected cases are increasing day by day, plus more and more countries are reporting the positive cases in their areas. This is a serious concern and requires the attention of every individual so that they could protect themselves and their loved ones.
While several actions are being taken on the ground level by respective health organizations, Google has also come forward to help in this distress and provide its helping hand. Google has launched SOS Alerts for searches related to this deadliest virus.
The program which was introduced back in 2017 gets activated whenever such crisis events occur. Google activates them and this time, the program has been enabled for searches related to Coronavirus. The SOS Alerts by Google will offer safety tips along with the ad-free search results with the latest news and links to authoritative resources.
The aim of these SOS Alerts is to make emergency information more accessible. Google search results fetch relevant content from the web, social media, and Google products so that you stay up to date whenever you hit the search button with natural or human-caused crisis terms inside the search box.
The SOS Alerts offer emergency phone numbers, donation opportunities, and more. In the case of Coronavirus, several links from World Health Organization have been added under Help and Information and there is a section of Safety tips below to it as well that tells you what to do to keep this lethal away. The SOS Alerts by Google is a continuous update and will pick new features as needed or relevant.
Meanwhile, Google.org has issued a $250,000 direct grant to the Chinese Red Cross. And, it has even launched an internal campaign inviting Googlers to donate. So far, Google.org and Googlers have raised over $800K USD.
