YI announces GoPro killer 4K+ Action Camera with 4K @ 60 FPS video recording

08 January 2017 0

The 4K Action Camera compact video camera line by Chinese manufacturer YI (formerly under the wing of Chinese giant Xiaomi) is coveted by many and has made quite a name for itself, giving GoPro cameras a serious run for their money. True to their promise, YI have announced a new product to this lineup at the CES 2017, called the YI 4K+ Action Camera, and it is going to become the envy of many.

This time around, YI has decided to ditch the Xiaomi brand with their cameras, and so the new 4K+ will be solely YI branded.

The YI 4K+ AC marks a revolution in camera technology. It is the first ever camera in the World capable of 4K recording at 60 frames per second. This is twice what most other cameras offer, including the latest GoPro Hero 5. All this is thanks to the advanced Ambarella H2 processor SoC. This processor offers a bit rate of 120 Mbps, which is higher than the SoC aboard some other competitors of the 4K+.

Besides a high bit rate which consequently allows for a higher frame rate, the 4K+ Action Camera also has some pretty useful gimmicks. It features Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), filtered audio output, live streaming support, and even VR capability! There a USB 3.0 Type-C connector for the camera allowing ultra-high transfer rates.

Despite this feature-packed profile, the camera is still very compact and is almost the same size as the GoPro Hero 5. It fits the dimensions of 42 x 65 x 21 mm, and weighs at around 95 grams. The price and availability is to yet to be announced.
