If you are planning to buy a new DTH connection or thinking of changing your current DTH provider, you might be wondering what will be the best choice for you. There is certainly not a single straight forward answer to this question as India has a number of DTH service providers in the market. These offer different types of set-top-boxes (STBs) packed with a host of features and they are priced accordingly.

This is the reason we decided to help you in your quest to find the best DTH connection for your family. In this article, we will have a look at four major DTH players: DishTV, Tata Sky, Airtel, and D2h (previously Videocon D2h). All these companies offer mainly offer Standard-definition (SD) and High-definition (HD) set-top-boxes.

The major difference between SD and HD STBs is in terms of video and audio quality. An SD STB offers content in 480p resolution (4:3 aspect ratio) and DVD-like quality. On another hand, an HD STB offers content in 720p/1080p/1080i resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) and superior sound quality technologies like 5.1 Dolby Digital sound, 7.1 Surround sound, and Dolby Digital Plus surround sound. These kinds of set-top-boxes are required for watching HD channels like Star Plus HD, Sony HD, Zee Cinema HD, Sony TEN1 HD, Star Sports 1 HD, and Discovery HD.

With basic details out of the way, let's talk about different DTH set-top-boxes and their pricing details.

My experience with Dish TV has been remarkable...value for Money...Tata sky is worst...Minimum money and maximum channels by dish tv...I am using dish tv last 7 yrs and really good...picture quality provided by all dth is almost same...so here main comparision lies in Money vs value we get...others charge money only for their ads:) dikhavo pe na jao...apni akkal lagao...
