Xiaomi Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4X to get MIUI 9 on August 11

The wait of Xiaomi fans to experience MIUI 9 is over. Xiaomi Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4X will be loaded with MIUI 9 on August 11th. MIUI 9 is a new version of its custom user interface, which is based on based on Android Nougat 7.0. MIUI 9 has three main features of image search, smart assistant, and smart app launcher.

MIUI 9 image search feature lets you search the images by keywords. Smart app launcher’s work is to launch an app based on the content of your screen. The Smart Assistant helps you find anything from photos to text.

Previously, Xiaomi has revealed that it will be releasing MIUI 9 China Developer ROM for all eligible devices in three phases.

  • The first phase will start from August 11th which includes the MI 6, Mi 5X, and Redmi Note 4X (Qualcomm variant).
  • It will be followed by the second phase on August 25th comprising of Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5c, Mi Max 2, Mi Max 32G, Mi Max 64G/128G, Mi 4S, Mi 4c, Mi Note Pro, and Redmi 4X.
  • For all the remaining devices excluding Mi 1, Mi 1S, and Mi 2A, the developer ROM will be released in late September.

Xiaomi also stated that 2.8 billion active users are currently using MIUI. The update is available only in China, hopefully, Xiaomi will bring out a global version soon.
