UPDATE (October 12th, 2020):
Oppo has confirmed that its first smart TV will be unveiled on October 19th. The company has not revealed any details about the product but we do have a few speculations to mention. It is tipped to announce two smart TV models featuring 55-inch and 65-inch display size panels. It is expected to be a 4K resolution panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
UPDATE (September 25th, 2020):
Oppo has officially announced that it is ready to expand to smart TVs. It made the announcement during the Oppo Developer Conference (ODC) 2020. The first Oppo smart TV models will be released sometime in October. There is no specific launch date yet and similarly, we do not know how many models will be released. We will keep you updated on the developments.

The speculations on Oppo to be working on its first smart TV have been coming for a while now, though you might not have heard too much about it. We first learned about this possibility last year in August when it was reported that Vivo is entering the TV segment as well. Later in December, it was devised that Oppo could launch its first smart TV by the name Oppo TV, however, no tangible references were found on the same.
Now, again, referring to an interview given by Oppo Vice President and Global Sales President Wu Qiang, it is assumed that Oppo will soon enter the blooming smart TV market. The executive, reportedly, even said that Oppo will enter the smart TV industry with its first product in the second half of this year, which isn’t too far.
It’s difficult to say if Oppo is targeting the Indian market but seeing the current growth of the smart TV market, it appears manufacturers are chasing to have a good market share in the country.
Well, this way Oppo will soon join the likes of OnePlus, Huawei, Motorola, and even Nokia by launching their products in India first. The country has seen a great rise in the TV market. According to a recent report from Goldstein Research, the Indian Smart TV Market is set to reach USD 20.4 billion by 2024. Currently, Xiaomi is enjoying the first sport in the Indian Smart TV market with a 33 percent market share, followed by Samsung and LG, as per a report from International Data Corporation (IDC).
Note that Oppo already offers a diverse set of products, including wearables and its debut in the smart TV segment will further expand its business.
Realme, brand backed up by Oppo also has plans to diversify its portfolio even further by launching the smart TVs in the emerging markets like India. Realme has plans to launch its first TV in Q2 2020.
