Google Assistant is packed with many features that make it one of the smartest digital assistants out there. One such feature is Voice Match which is capable of identifying users through their voices and show relevant and personalized results. It is helpful when different family members are using the same Assistant-powered device like a smart speaker. Now, it seems like Android TV is getting closer to being compatible with Assistant Voice Match.
As discovered by 9to5Google folks during an APK teardown of Google Search Android TV app, there are code references that suggest Google is working on bringing Voice Match to Android TVs. The teardown was done on the latest app version i.e. 4.2.0 which is already available for download for everyone.
The team spotted a code string that explains what Voice Match is. It seems like the kind of description that will be visible whenever a user would start enabling it. One of the strings is "Activate Voice Match on this TV" followed by a description that reads, "Your Assistant can already recognize you by your voice, and tell you apart from others."
There is no doubt that it will be a nice addition for all Android TV users as they will be able to get personalized results without having to switch user profiles. But since this is an APK teardown, it is hard to say when and if Google will actually make the functionality available for everyone. This is the reason we would suggest you wait until further confirmation.
