OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has revealed different interesting details about the upcoming OnePlus TV (2020) series. He offered official details in an exclusive conversation with Android Central, an online publication. Even though both these new models are aimed at an affordable price point, Lau says they have not compromised on the design and user experience.
The all-new OnePlus TVs are said to be ultra-thin with a thickness of just 6.9mm which makes the even thinner than the OnePlus 8 series of smartphones. It should be noted that since a TV has to house various components, it is not possible to offer a uniform thickness across the length. This is the reason that the said thickness is at the thinnest part of the TV.
These TVs will be packed with two full-range speakers that are claimed to offer "50% deeper bass". These speakers have been implemented using an innovative acoustic arrangement where they rotate at 90 degrees. OnePlus has continued its love for the carbon fiber pattern on the back panel which is also available on the premium OnePlus TV Q1 series. However, the team had to consult with experts and make certain tweaks to ensure that there are no flaws and the panel does not get ruined in the process.
Lau did not reveal display size options but confirmed the presence of slim bezels. He said upcoming OnePlus TVs will offer an impressive 95% screen-to-body ratio, something that we usually see with expensive offerings. We already know that the display panel on these TVs will support 93% DCI-P3 color gamut, Dolby Vision, Gamma Engine, and HDR videos.
User experience continues to be one of the crucial aspects of OnePlus products as we have seen in the past. However, Lau did not go into detail about what to expect from OnePlus TVs. He only said that certain software features will be revealed in the coming weeks and their goal is to "set the standard for future smart TV products".
OnePlus TV (2020) models are set to go official on July 2nd and are already available for pre-order through Amazon India. It is offering an extended warranty for 2 years for Rs. 1,000 (usual price Rs. 3,000) to everyone who pre-orders TVs by July 2nd.
