OnePlus launches Y-series and U-series smart TVs in India, with price starting at Rs.12,999

OnePlus has finally launched its affordable series of TVs, alongside a 4K TV in India. These are the new Y-series and U-series that range from 32-inch to 55-inch. The Y-series includes 32-inch and 43-inch entry-level smart TVs and the U-series features a 55-inch 4K TV that is tagged at a higher price compared to the other two.

All three TVs in the two ranges run on Android TV 9 Pie with OnePlus software. They all feature Oxygen Play interface for a content-centric view.

OnePlus Y-series

OnePlus started introducing the 32-inch (32Y1) and 43-inch (43Y1) smart TVs by referring to their popularity in India by screen sizes. According to OnePlus, these two sizes are the most common among Indian users. OnePlus touts that its new Y-series has better picture quality, operating system, and design as well. The new 32-inch and 43-inch OnePlus TVs are launched under the new Y-series TVs and they both feature a bezel-less design and cinematic display.

The 32-inch features HD display and the 43-inch has full HD resolution. Both the Y-series’ models are coming with 2x10W speakers with Dolby Audio for superior sound quality. They both run Android TV with OnePlus software.

The 43-inch OnePlus TV has 93% DCI-P3 that offers better image quality. It also includes Gamma Engine that promises clearer images at better resolution.

OnePlus U-series TV (55U1)

Before launching the entry-level Y-series, OnePlus took enough time to woo you with its 55-inch TV offering. OnePlus routes that it considered a lot of feedback from its user community over the design of the TV.

OnePlus touts the 55U1 has an elegant design and a newly redesigned remote. The OnePlus TV 55U1 has a slim design with the thickness at just 6.9mm. It indeed looks premium as you take a first glance at it. The TV holds a carbon fiber pattern at the back that covers the lower one-third back of the TV. This is where all the ports are housed if you want to connect an HDMI, you would first need to remove the cover that hides the ports.

The highest among them is the OnePlus TV 55U1 that features a 55-inch 4K display with 93% DCI-P3. The display is supported by Gamma Engine ensures a clearer image, including better resolution, dynamic contrast, anti-aliasing, and noise reduction. It also supports MEMC for smooth video playback.

AndroidCentral has been very actively sharing the tidbits about upcoming plans of OnePlus and according to the review that the tech site has just published, the 55U1 has a cleaner look and the stand has brushed metal finish that adds an overall premium taste to it. According to the tech publication, OnePlus doesn't provide the wall mounting kit in the box and customers would need to request one at the time of installation. This means you would need to pay extra for that.

OnePlus 55U1 comes with four speakers that combine to deliver 30W of output. It comes with 3GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage. According to the tech publication's review, the new remote is better and it includes all the buttons for playback, including direct access to several OTT platforms. There is a direct button to summon Google Assistant as well. It includes Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, Chromecast built-in, DLNA. It also features the OnePlus Connect app for easier connectivity with a smartphone.

Price and availability

The price of the OnePlus 32Y1 is Rs. 12,999 and the 43Y1 costs Rs. 22,999. The price of the 55U1 is Rs. 49,999 and it also bundles free Echo Dot.
