Realme teases world's first SLED 4K smart TV, launch in October

28 September 2020 0

Realme has officially announced a new LED display technology called SLED, an alternative to well-known QLED (Quantum-dot LED) display tech. It will debut on a 55-inch 4K smart TV model next month that Realme is touting to be the world's first SLED 4K Smart TV. The team has only talked about the tech a little bit and showcased the retail packaging for the TV so far.

The SLED tech has been developed by Realme in collaboration with John Rooymans, Chief Scientist of SPD Technology (Special Power Distribution). It is based on the RGB Backlight Technology where the RGB light (Red, Green, and Blue) is used for creating the White light. This is said to reduce the negative effects of Blue light emission which is why the SLED tech is also TÜV Rheinland certified.

The announcement mentions that the upcoming 55-inch SLED 4K TV will be capable of supporting a 108% NTSC Ultra-wide striking color gamut. Realme is further boasting that the NTSC coverage of its tech will be even better than some QLED TVs available in the market. This claim will definitely be worth putting to test once the TV becomes official.

There is no information on an exact launch date yet but it is expected to arrive next month. In fact, October is tipped to be a busy month for Realme as it is planning to announce a bunch of products. These new devices will be spread across various product categories. It seems like the company is preparing to attract as many buyers as it can ahead of the festive season in India.
