Google has started rolling out a new Gboard for Android TV update that brings visual changes. The new Gboard layout is compact as compared to the previous one. It has become a lot smaller than the original that used to spread across the whole display without any good reason.
The new Gboard TV design is a lot similar to Gboard for Android and iOS phones. It is like a small box with all the keys in the traditional QWERTY layout. It does not take any unnecessary space on the TV's display and appears to be a floating window. However, it is unknown whether the keyboard can be moved around.
Other than the design, the new Gboard will offer voice support for all apps and text fields. It used to be dependent on the particular app developer but with the update, it will work everywhere. This will be beneficial for situations when one does not want to type a number of words which can be cumbersome on TV remotes.
It is worth noting that this Gboard update is a result of server-side changes. It means even if you have the latest version of the app, you might have to wait for some time before it comes available for you. The good thing is as and when it becomes available, you will be know because of the new design.
