OnePlus TV Q and U-series will receive a new OTA6 update that will unlock an interesting feature. This is the MultiCast feature that allows casting up to 4 devices simultaneously on the TV. While the MultiCast feature can prove to be a useful tool in several scenarios, one prime use case has to be multi-player gaming. Using the new feature, up to four people can cast their devices to one screen at the same time and enjoying playing games together.
The MultiCast can also play a major role when someone is giving a presentation and needs to share screens from other devices where some other data is placed.
The OTA6 update for the OnePlus TV Q and U-series will also bring a Power-off timer, allowing users to set a timer to turn their TV off automatically. There is also a new user metrics feature, which provides feedback for stats like screen time and data usage. The update will also introduce a new “My Videos” page, which features watch history, watchlist, and reminders. “You’ll be able to freely resume the episode you stopped a night ago, and easily catch up with shows and movies that were added to your watchlist.”
Below is the complete changelog -
1. Support new features on OnePlus Connect: User Metrics (check Screen time and Data usage), Power-off Timer, other feedback points
2. OxygenPlay: add a new page - "My Video", which provides a more personalized watching experience.
3. Optimise screen casting with Miracast and MultiCast (casting up to four devices to the OnePlus TV)
OnePlus has announced that the new system update will be available in November on the OnePlus TV Q and U series. It also confirmed that the company is working on the third system update, which is meant for Y-series.
