Apple is reportedly planning a new Apple TV with some major upgrades to launch in 2021. There are many reports circulating already and now Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shares some good tidings.

Gurman has a strong track record of putting out the rights details on Apple’s plans. So, we would like to stick to his reportings, at least, until something more substantial take over.
For next year, Apple is planning an upgraded box with a stronger gaming focus, an updated remote and a new processor. Those changes will fix some of the Apple TV box’s issues, but the product will need to take another big leap—akin to its 2015 changes—to remain competitive in the long term.
He also reiterated that the current Apple TV has some problems that are an “easy-to-lose” remote and slightly dated software, especially compared to Google’s Chromecast. So, his report stresses again that Apple could integrate the Find My application into the Apple TV.
Previously, Bloomberg reported that the remote of the upcoming Apple TV will get the Find My application. This would help users to locate the remote if it goes missing, something similar to the working of the application on the iPhone or iPad.
Other reports have indicated Apple could use the A14 processor for its Apple TV models. The upcoming Apple TV may also be able to run exclusive Apple Arcade games that aren’t available on the existing Apple TV models.
It’s been three years since the last upgrade; Apple has only made minor changes to the Apple TV since 2015. And, as Gurman points out the product is facing intense competition and it’s time that Apple brings something better with more upgrades.
