Samsung launches two new MicroLED TVs for consumers

06 January 2021 0

Samsung has expanded its MicroLED TV lineup by launching two new consumer-friendly models. These are 88-inch and the 99-inch MicroLED TVs. Alongside this, Samsung has also made available its consumer-centric 110-inch MicroLED 4K model in South Korea. Samsung first announced it in December last year and is only now making it available for pre-sale in its home country. Unlike the modular and enterprise-focused 110-inch The Wall, the new 110-inch MicroLED TV is a consumer model designed for home use.

Interestingly, two smaller models also join it. Well, the new MicroLED TV models are not too small but they are comparatively smaller than the large 110-inch model that Samsung announced in December last year.

The new MicroLED TVs that Samsung announced as part of its CES 2021 announcements come in 88-inch and 99-inch sizes and just like the 110-inch model they have also been developed to be consumer-friendly.

All these TVs have a 99.99 screen-to-body ratio, include Smart TV features, including Multi-view feature that allow you to split the screen into up to four different screens. Applications of this multi-view functionality can be many. For instance, you can follow a game commentary and news broadcasts, and more at the same time. One can adjust the volume for each section as well. Samsung says one can connect multiple external devices as well. For instance, one can connect them with a home security camera and keep an eye on it while consuming their favorite content.

MicroLED offers higher brightness compared to the OLED and is more stable as well. The MicroLED TVs use micrometer-sized LED lights for each individual pixel to produce a vibrant and bright picture. This is different from backlit LCD panels and OLED TVs. The MicroLED TVs are 4K models, each packing over 8 million LED clusters.

The 110-inch MicroLED 4K model is available for pre-sale in South Korea already. Samsung will bring them to other markets as well in the first quarter of 2021. The price and availability details of the other two are unknown.
