Apple TV app now available for all Android TV devices

02 June 2021 0

Apple TV has released its official application for Android TV devices around the world. The app was originally released for the NVIDIA Shield but a later announcement revealed availability for all Android devices. This is a streaming app that delivers on-demand movies along with Apple-exclusive content and original shows.

The official announcement came through an Apple TV tweet. It did not go into details about the release and simply said, "Introducing a new member to our streaming roster. The Apple TV app is now available on #AndroidTV devices." The Play Store listing reveals that the app is compatible with devices running Android 8.0 Oreo or higher.

The only thing that you will need is an Android TV device with access to the Google Play Store. The Apple TV app can be downloaded for free. The app features content in up to 4K resolution but you will need to have a compatible hardware device to be able to stream in the highest possible quality. It also supports technologies like HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos.
