Google TV teams up with Pluto TV to deliver 300+ free live TV channels

08 December 2021 0

Google has announced a partnership with Pluto TV that will bring over 300 free live TV channels to Google TV. It will be available on all smart TVs running Android TV operating system layered with Google TV interface. The Chromecast with Google TV streaming stick will also get access to the new content coming as a result of the deal.

The announcement is not exactly a surprise as Google was rumored to be talking with different free live TV streaming services for the past few months. Pluto TV seems to be at least one of the partners that it has reached an agreement with. It is home to a wide variety of TV channels including the likes of CBS News, CNN, Comedy Central, Paramount Plus Picks, and Showtime Selects. There are channels dedicated to a particular theme like the 007 franchise, Baywatch, Star Trek, Degrassi, and The Price Is Right.

All of these channels will be accessible by visiting the Live tab in the Google TV interface. It will also offer personalized recommendations about what to watch through the For You tab. It means users will get to watch free live TV with the added goodness of Google's smartness.

It is important to note that while all these channels are completely free to stream, they do offer advertisements in between the content getting played. This is what helps them and the service provider to offer everything free of charge. Pluto TV is currently available only in the United States, Latin America, and Europe. It seems like the Google TV integration will also be limited to these markets only.
