OnePlus has announced a collaboration with Reliance Jio that will bring JioPages support to OnePlus TVs in India. JioPags is a web browser application available for both smartphones and smart TVs. The goal of the deal is to provide users with an enhanced and ad-free web browsing experience on their OnePlus TVs.
JioPages will bring an improved user experience of browsing websites via a Chromium engine migration. It is said to be capable of rendering websites in a way that they load faster and are easier to navigate on a TV. This is an important change as browsing the internet on a smart TV can actually be a frustrating experience.
The browser app natively supports ad-blocking for smoother navigation. It further has two dedicated modes called Secure and VPN. These are meant to provide a safer browsing experience by blocking third-party tracking, especially when using a VPN to access blocked websites. It will also offer Top Websites across different categories with just one click along with an option to add them as Quick Links.
There is another mode called Study which will provide curated educational content for students. JioPages is available in multiple local languages including Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, and Tamil among others. It is unknown when OnePlus TV users can expect to see the JioPages app on their respective TVs but we are speculating it to happen sooner than later.
