Microsoft announces Xbox cloud gaming app for Samsung smart TVs

10 June 2022 0

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox cloud gaming application is coming to 2022 Samsung smart TVs. The app will become available from June 30th and on all models launched this year. The release is part of Xbox's ambition to make its games available to as many users as possible and without the need for spending on the console.

The Xbox game streaming app will offer access to more than 100 games to Samsung smart TV users. However, users will need to subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. It is the most expensive tier of the subscription service and the only one that features Xbox's cloud game streaming service.

The announcement mentions all Xbox Games Studios titles will become available on the same day of the release. The good news is that Fortnite can be played without a subscription. It means even if you do not want to pay for the service but you would like to give it a try, there is one game that you can enjoy with your friends.

The primary benefit of the Xbox app on Samsung TV is that a user does not need to have a gaming PC or console to enjoy any of the supported games. They simply need to launch the app, sign in with a valid Microsoft account, and start playing. The app will be accessible through the Samsung Gaming Hub. All games can be played using a Bluetooth-enabled controller like the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, Elite Series 2 Controller, or the DualSense controller.
