Realme’s supposed smartwatch appears to be real and if its alleged presence at a couple of regulatory bodies is to be considered then we can say its launch is not too far even. A Realme device under the Product Categories “Smartwatches” was first spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) earlier this month and now the same device (same model number) has apparently made its appearance at Indonesian regulatory body TKDN as well.
The listing of the device on both the certification sites reveals nothing else. Only the model number and the brand name is listed on both the sites. The model number listed is the same – RMA183 and it’s categorized under the smartwatch category, which makes it evident that the device in question is a smartwatch coming from the brand Realme.
Generally, Realme openly shares details on its upcoming devices, but we haven’t yet heard about this smartwatch yet. However, the company’s CEO Madhav Sheth did share his thoughts on what the company aims for the year 2020.
Last year in December, during the AskMadhav session, Sheth disclosed that the company wants to become a “tech-lifestyle” brand as well. The company doesn’t just want to be recognized as a smartphone brand and it aims to diversify itself even further. He didn’t share what new lifestyle products the company is looking to bring but the expansion plan highly indicates that the smartwatches are also included. Interestingly, Sheth did disclose that a fitness band will arrive in the first half of 2020.
So, it is yet to be seen if a smartwatch of a fitness brand from Realme will arrive first. However, the certification makes it evident that the launch of the smartwatch is pretty imminent.
