Update: July 17, 2020

In an exclusive interview with TechRadar, the OnePlus Buds’ Project Manager Jay Liu confirmed that OnePlus Buds will utilize the company’s Warp Charge technology so as to offer quick charging. As per the company’s claims, the Warp Charge technology will charge the Buds in just 10 minutes for 10 hours playback. Compared to this, Apple claims its AirPods can offer five hours of audio playback with a longer 15 minutes of charge time.

Liu also confirmed that the users will be able to fast charge their OnePlus Buds using any charger greater than 10W and will not require any special cables. Despite the increased charging speeds, the OnePlus Buds will cap charging at 5v 1.5A to avoid damage to the 430mA Lithium-Ion battery inside the earbuds’ case.

OnePlus is not covering up its upcoming offerings and rather showing them off proudly, thus creating much buzz around them. The company was already making headlines for its yet-to-come affordable phone Nord and later garnered more attention after it confirmed its first-ever truly wireless earbuds – OnePlus Buds will launch at the same AR launch event.

And just what you might have guessed, OnePlus has now started talking about its earbuds as well. After confirming the name and the launch, OnePlus took to Twitter to tease what’s coming with its first-ever TWS earbuds. The first thing that OnePlus has confirmed about its Buds is 30 hours of battery life. In a community forum, OnePlus elaborated more on the same topic that revealed the rated battery life is possible with the charging case, though with a catch.

Each earbud is “good for over 7 hours of continuous use.” Additionally, he said users could fully top up the buds more than three times from the charging case, giving up to 30 hours before recharging the case.

Speaking of comfort, Lau confirmed that OnePlus Buds are built to wear for long periods.

While confirming this, OnePlus also shared a silhouette of its Buds that confirmed they will arrive in Black color with red accents on the back of the earbud. Also, while showing off the design of the OnePlus Nord in a video with MKBHD, Carl Pie, co-founder at OnePlus, was seen wearing the truly wireless earbuds as well.

That was obviously an intentional tease; what else could they be besides OnePlus Buds? The glimpse confirms that its OnePlus Buds will complement the Blue colored OnePlus Nord by being available in the same color.

Let’s wait for more insights to come as OnePlus will continue to reveal more about its upcoming products.
