21 July 2020
Call them the last-minute leaks but you have to deal with them, anyhow. There has hardly any day that went without sharing the details on OnePlus’ two upcoming ambitious projects – affordable smartphone series and the first truly wireless earbuds. OnePlus itself has been very vocal about the two and shared much about them already and what remains to be seen is the official unveiling of the two on July 21, which is just around the corner. But, let’s just meet them one more time.
The OnePlus Buds appears to have been spotted during an APK teardown. According to 9to5Google, they found a whole gallery of OnePlus Buds residing in the latest OnePlus 8 update. The folks were able to retrieve them while digging into the APK.
The images are clearly showing the design in its entirety. You can also see the earbuds in different colors – Black, White, and Blue, though it is unclear if OnePlus has more colors to offer. OnePlus Buds clearly inherits that ripped-kind of the circle from Bullets series. This reflects OnePlus has used its own design elements as well.
The case is round in shape and appears to have a matte design and it is available in the same colors as the accessory inside it, though there is a slight difference in the Blue one as the case has green offerings.
This is probably our best view at the OnePlus Buds where we can take peek into many things before its official release. One can see a glowing light outside the case, probably this is to tell battery level while the case is on charging. It also appears that OnePlus’ first-ever truly wireless earbuds even don’t have silicon tips.
The folks from 9to5Google who scavenged from the APK were also able to glean into some important details on OnePlus Buds. They found strings of “Find my Device” option and direct mention of Dolby Atmos support. According to the tech site, the OnePlus Buds is oddly referred to as “OnePlus Buds” in the software.
The sleuths also found a few illustrations that are apparently the tutorials for the OnePlus Buds. The illustrations show touch controls and fast pairing. So, that was by far the biggest reveal on the OnePlus Buds but we doubt these were the only things the last-minute leaks could offer. The OnePlus Buds launch is just around the corner and let’s be patient and wait for the right time to come.
